Hello friends,
April is a BIG month at Literacy Now . . . programs are wrapping up which means post testing, lots of supply clean-up, and schlepping; we are in full-on planning for 2024-25 mode; the Guild Luncheon is less than three weeks away; and we are celebrating our incredible volunteers! WHEW!
This school year, our mantra has been Transforming Challenges into Opportunities and there have been some HUGE challenges as a result of the changing landscape in HISD!! We have been stretched, we have pivoted, we have been flexible, and we have been creative problem-solvers. I am overwhelmed with gratitude and pride at the ways our staff rises to each challenge as they keep “what’s best” for our students top of mind.
YES, we have turned our challenges into opportunities for new partnerships with additional school districts and public charters . . . more on that next month when agreements are firm for summer and beyond. 😊
One thing I notice each month as I reflect on our work and write my message for our newsletter is that I get emotional thinking about YOUR incredible support . . . as volunteers, donors, partners, board members, and employees. YOU are the reason we are able to transform challenges into opportunities. YOU are the reason we can continue our work despite so many unknowns. YOU are the reason we WILL continue to grow and serve more struggling readers in the Houston area. YOU are the Literacy Now family and I am incredibly grateful for YOU!
