Our Programs
THE READING EXPRESS MOBILE CLASSROOM
Our mobile classroom, The Reading Express, visits low-income communities to provide reading readiness programming for young children (2 months to age 4) and empowers their parents to take an active role in their education. Literacy Now collaborates with community partners throughout Houston and Harris County that serve vulnerable populations, including the previously homeless and newcomers. READING INTERVENTION
Our flagship program, Reading Intervention, provides individualized, small-group (4:1 ratio) instruction to help struggling readers become proficient readers by the end of 3rd grade. Highly skilled and experienced interventionists work on school campuses and in direct partnership with teachers to deliver the 25-week SIPPS Curriculum. This research-based foundational skills program was selected because it is customizable to meet the needs of each student and proven to help both new and struggling readers build skills and confidence for fluent, independent reading. PARENT PARTNERSHIP
Our Parent Partnership program engages parents in the development of their child’s literacy skills through interactive workshops, free books to build home libraries, and providing supplies to create literacy-rich environments at home. This program nurtures family involvement in their children’s education and helps to build a solid foundation for a bright future. Click here for more information about this program.
