Coronavirus Impacts 2020 Guild Luncheon

Announcements

Dear Friends,

As things continue to unfold in the Houston area related to concerns about the spread of the Coronavirus, it seems prudent to cancel or reschedule large public gatherings.  Thanks to each of you, our March 27th luncheon definitely qualifies as a large gathering!  Therefore, sadly, the decision has been made to reschedule our 7th Annual Guild Luncheon.

This decision was not made lightly and was made in consultation with our luncheon co-chairs, two members of our board’s Executive Committee, our Development Team, and myself.  On behalf of our luncheon co-chairs, board and staff, I apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause.

We are so incredibly grateful to each of you – table sponsors, underwriters, program ad purchasers, ticket holders, and our Guild volunteers who’ve been working so hard to make this a fantastic event. We are working to secure a new date, likely in September, and will get that information to you the moment we are confirmed. We will look forward to seeing you all then as your sponsorships and ticket purchases will simply transfer to the new date.

Table sponsors – please notify your guests immediately. We sure hope they will be able to join us on the new date.

Also, we are closely monitoring HISD, as well as our Reading Express partner sites’ responses to the Coronavirus, and will follow their lead and make necessary adjustments. Please note that we have increased sanitation protocols throughout all of our programs as the kids we serve have been and will always be our number one priority.

If you have any questions specific to the Guild Luncheon, please contact Julie Gardner at julie@literacynowhouston.org. If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at jacque@literacynowhouston.org.

Literacy Now and the citizens of Houston are incredibly resilient. We know how to pull together, continue getting our business done, and care for one another. Thank you for your support and understanding. You are greatly appreciated!

Blessings,

Jacque Daughtry
