While we are more determined than ever to bring our transformational programs to schools and students who need us most, we face significant challenges due to COVID-19 and economic uncertainty. But these challenges and distance will not stop us from serving our students and their families!
Reading Intervention Program: Via drive through distributions at each campus served, we will distribute student and parent literacy kits (including books) that will contain materials needed to participate in their live virtual tutoring sessions with our staff via Microsoft Teams. When (or if) schools open back up in October, we will resume face-to-face reading interventions, as well as continue live virtual sessions for those students who remain at home.
Parent Engagement Workshops and Lunch Bunch (volunteer mentoring program) will take place virtually for the Fall 2020-2021 school year via live Zoom sessions. We will reevaluate face-to-face programming in January.
Our mobile classroom, The Reading Express, will provide live virtual classes via Zoom and reevaluate face-to-face programming in January 2021.
We are focused on professional development for our staff to ensure maximum success for this new program delivery model.
