A Storybook Ending

Meet Alexzia, a shy Kindergartner who joined our Reading Intervention program as an emergent bilingual student at Best Elementary School. At the beginning of the school year, she faced significant challenges with sight words and was unable to read. However, after just 25 weeks, Alexzia has made remarkable progress, mastering a wealth of sight words and reading fluently. Her newfound confidence shines through as she shares her improved reading skills with her teacher and mom. Congratulations Alexzia, we are SO proud of you!

11th Annual Guild Luncheon Soars to New Heights

Dreams really do come true! Thank you to our sponsors, underwriters, and guests for helping us raise a record-breaking $166,000 at this year’s luncheon to serve our kids and families.

This year’s event, chaired by Dawn Zieren and supported by an incredible Luncheon Committee, celebrated not only the occasion but also the remarkable 18-year leadership of Jacque Daughtry. Highlights of the event included a Proclamation from Mayor John Whitmire, declaring May 2, 2025, as Jacque Daughtry Day, a moving tribute from Making It Better/Literacy Now Founder Jerry Davis, and Jacque’s parting words and advice.

Spreading the Joy of Reading!

We recently held our annual summer book giveaway to ensure that the children at La Fontaine/Belmont Apartments have plenty of books for their summer reading adventures.

We Love Our Volunteers!

We recently had the pleasure of celebrating our dedicated volunteers at our annual Volunteer Appreciation Party. We are immensely grateful for the unwavering support and commitment you show throughout the year.
