Hello friends,
The month of May is often referred to as May Madness filled with graduations, parties, field trips, field days, and finalizing summer plans. We definitely have some May Madness at Literacy Now with our 10th annual Guild Luncheon, sharing Reading Intervention program results at campus year-end meeting, budget prep meetings, year-end staff celebration, and a board of directors’ meeting. There’s always something a little sad about the end of the school year… yes, there are sighs of relief to have finished well and for a few months at a less frenzied pace, but there’s also missing our students and co-workers. May is also a time of reflection: How did we do in programs, staff development & appreciation, fundraising, developing partnerships, and how can we improve for the upcoming year? Next, it’s time to wind down from a school year filled with changes and look ahead to new beginnings in August … stay tuned for updates in upcoming newsletters.
The 2024-25 school year will be very different for me as I entrust the leadership for the future chapters in our history to our wonderful COO, Jacklyn Wilson who, effective August 1st, will be the CEO. I’ve had the privilege of leading this amazing organization during our first 17.5 years now it’s time for me to allow the next generation to lead us into the future. I’m thrilled to be continuing my Literacy Now journey in a new role, Donor & Partner Relations Liaison where I will be singularly focused on YOU, our partners, volunteers, and donors! Just in case you missed the big news that went out last week, please take two minutes to listen to my video announcement and meet Jacklyn.
We may have a change of CEO in 2.5 months but The Literacy Now Way will stay the same . . . building meaningful relationships and stewarding your resources with excellence and integrity as we continue to empower kids to read! As always, I am overflowing with gratitude for all who have and continue to make this great adventure possible. Thank YOU for the privilege of serving alongside YOU – our donors, partners, volunteers, and staff. I look forward to continuing our adventure together in the years to come!
Blessings,
Jacque Daughtry
