Dear Friends,
There is always a buzz of activity at Literacy Now that is ingrained in our culture, and we fully embrace it. Our programs are back in full swing after the winter break with mid-year assessments in our Reading Intervention program, showing remarkable gains. Our staff is focused on fostering growth in our scholars, and we eagerly anticipate not just improvements in reading skills, but also a boost in our students’ self-esteem and confidence.
Our biggest Houston Reads Day ever is just around the corner, and we are beyond excited to be reading to more than 15,000 Pre-K through 5th grade students throughout Houston. We are grateful to our generous sponsors and dedicated volunteers for making this event a remarkable chance to highlight the importance of literacy. Houston Reads Day is also a vital part of supporting our Reading Intervention program which is why our Board Chair, Deepak Manoharan and I are excited to introduce a Leaders for Readers match challenge that will double your gift up to $6,000 (see below). We invite you to consider giving today.
Join us as we Dream Big and Fly High at our 11th Annual Guild Luncheon, where we honor Jacque Daughtry. For 18 years, Jacque’s dedication and leadership with Making It Better/Literacy Now have created a lasting impact on the children and families we serve, leaving an extraordinary legacy.
I want to express my sincere gratitude to all our wonderful volunteers and supporters for your unwavering passion for our mission and vision. We are deeply humbled by your support.
For the Children,
Jacklyn Minimah-Wilson, M.Ed.
