As we head into the holiday season and the midpoint of our school year, I am excited to share the State of Literacy Now with you.
We are already seeing remarkable growth from our Reading Intervention scholars, both in and out of the classroom. Our mobile classroom, the Reading Express, has been actively serving six community sites across the city with strong attendance and enthusiastic engagement.
Our volunteers have once again proven invaluable, supporting numerous back-office projects as we launched into this school year. We successfully created and rolled out our very own curriculum, Page’s Promise, designed especially for our youngest learners.
Additional highlights from this year include:
- Receiving a $100,000 grant from Impact100 Houston
- A highly successful Magnums Gala
- Growing our Page Turner monthly giving campaign by 30% in three months. Click HERE to join!
- Conducting a productive and energizing Think Tank session
- Installing numerous Story Swap Libraires across the community
- Expanding Houston Reads Day 2026 to 44 schools, including three new districts
While we are proud of the progress we’ve made so far, we are only halfway through the year. Thanks to your continued support, generosity, and encouragement, we are confident that we will meet, and even exceed, our goals. The time, treasure, and talent that you share with us truly inspires our team, and we remain deeply humbled and grateful.
