Well, here we are again, the busyness of the Christmas/Hanukkah/holiday season is in full swing! This time of year can be filled with joy, sadness, fun, anxiety, and everything in between. But, at Literacy Now we are choosing joy by celebrating the gift of learning to read that our amazing staff gives to 1,096 struggling readers we are serving right now across Houston.
During this holiday season, I encourage you to take time to read to the children in your lives. It’s a wonderful way to develop strong bonds while exploring new words, places, and characters.
AND…if you are struggling to find that “perfect” gift for a loved one on your list, I encourage you to give the gift of reading by donating to Literacy Now in honor or memory of someone special to you. This is not a gift that will be returned or put in a drawer, it’s a gift that will continue to give for the lifetime of a child.
My wish for you and your families is that you will take a few moments, each day, to pause and take in the beauty of the season and allow joy to permeate your soul. Always know how very thankful we are for YOU…today and every day, we celebrate the gift of YOU!
