Book Donations Needed

Announcements

We are excited about the upcoming school year and working hard to prepare for the kids and families we serve! One thing we are focusing on is acquiring great books to get into the hands of the kids, and this is where we need YOUR help. Did you know that there is only 1 age-appropriate book for every 300 children in low-income neighborhoods? 61% of low-income families have no books at all in their homes for their children!

Last year, we distributed more than 9,000 books to help our kids and families build their home libraries, and this year the need is even greater as we expand our services to five additional schools.

There are two ways you can help us: Purchase new books through our Amazon wishlist found here or donate your gently used books (please see what kinds of books we are looking for below).

Fiction & Nonfiction books for kids ages 5-7 (K-1st grade)
• Books in good condition (these are going home to children!)
• Recently published books (high interest, best sellers)
• Early readers, or books that are labeled “Pre-readers, Pre-K,
Level 1, Level 2, I Can Read, or My First”
• Paperbacks preferred
• Sight word, rhyming, or phonics books
• Nursery rhymes, best sellers, or easy readers
• Non-wordy Read-Aloud books with familiar characters

Thank you for considering our request, and please feel free to share it with your network of friends or colleagues. The more help we receive, the more books we can get into these homes, providing kids with the most important resource to help them become great readers!
